Just a quick update. Mike has finished the basic installation of cabinets. The measurements have been made for the counter. I've picked out wall color and lighting and have a good idea about switch plates and outlets. Big decisions coming up are backsplash tile and also kitchen sink faucet.
Home Depot picked up the "wrong" refrigerator and the "right" one with left-door hinge has been ordered.
AND, Mike left to go on vacation so no more work will be done for at least two weeks.
This is the end of Week One.
Mike got 3/4 of the cabinets installed and the appliances have been delivered. Mike is doing a great job of fitting the pieces together and dealing with the sloping room. The kitchen is 11 feet long and is 1-3/4 inches higher at one end than the other, a problem throughout this building due to settling plus non-perfection when the building was originally constructed.
These are pictures of the kitchen as of Saturday, June 10.

The cabinets were delivered today right on time, 22 boxes in all. Mike will start the installation on Thursday.
Most of the cabinets are out of the way in the nearly empty kitchen.

A few overflowed into the living room.

This is my new pantry cabinet with slide-out shelves. No more lost teabags! The new cabinet is next to the old refrigerator which now temporarily resides in my living room.

June 5th was the big day: the official start of the kitchen remodel. First, a "last look" pictures at the old kitchen. Then, some pictures of the Kitchen Wreck which will be finished today. Only real problem was difficulty getting the tiles off the walls which will necessitate replacing some of the dry wall.
