Kitchen Project Part 1

I've decided to have my kitchen remodeled. I have lived here for 28 years and last had work done in the kitchen about 17 years ago.

These pictures shows the original kitchen with slight changes made about 3-4 years after I moved in.

The stove was replaced. The original stove had an additional oven on top. There was no dishwasher.

This shows the entry to the front hallway and the original floor. I used to keep an Oriental rug in the kitchen.

Our May model was Kudzai. It was a three-class month. At the end of the second week, I was not at all happy with my piece. After looking at it during the intervening week and having a brief consultation with Richard at the beginning of the third class, I decided it was salvageable. I'm pretty satisfied with the results. Again this is a study, not a finished piece. I only had 15 minutes to spend on the neck and shoulder area for example.

Our April model was Gloria. My portrait is a "study," i.e., not finished. Also, it is not one of my better pictures either in execution or likeness. It is really difficult to get a good likeness of the individual you are attempting to portray.

For comparison, this is the gray pastel portrait I did of Gloria in late 2004.
