Where I Ate in Duluth

I got to go to two of my favorite restaurants while in Duluth. On the last night I was there a college friend and I went to my very favorite, the New Scenic Cafe.

There's more to this art expedition. From Grand Marais I drove to Grand Rapids, (MN not MI) and visited friends, Jane and Stan, for the weekend. Then I drove to Duluth to attend my fourth Split Rock Arts Program. This time I took a class from Michael Kareken called "Foundations of Drawing: Working from Observation."

This is where I ate dinner when I was in Grand Marais:

Angry Trout
Harbor Inn
Gunflint Tavern
Angry Trout again
Victoria's Bakehouse

All very good, especially if you like salmon and trout.

I thought you said this was an art expedition. Well, it was. The week that I was in Grand Marais I attended a color pencil workshop taught by Kristy Kutch. The class was held at the Grand Marais Art Colony (right next door to the Antler Inn).

Janet's Minnesota Art Expedition started in Grand Marais. I stayed at a wonderful bed and breakfast, the Antler Inn. The owner has worked very hard on the front garden which was formerly just rocks. She also has a wonderful angel watching over all from the side yard.
