Our House Our house. (92K jpg) Mincemeat Pie A pie I made for Thanksgiving 1998. (32K jpg)

My dad took the shot with his digital camera after my aunt called and wished that she could have a slice of pie. She doesn't get mincemeat pie too often. Rather than sending her a slice via overnight express, we took a picture and sent that instead.

Taken on March 4, 1999 with a Kodak DC260 digital camera.

Jellyfish Jellyfish from an exhibit in the Monterey Bay Aquarium, 1996. (33K jpg)

The film used was really too slow for conditions. I'd loaded up for outdoor shots, probably 100ASA film, and didn't finish that roll before going in to the aquarium. I compensated with a long exposure time.

While setting up to take the shot, I was annoyed at the people who kept taking flash photos of the jellies through the glass, because I figured their pictures wouldn't turn out because of the flash and I was afraid they might wreck my picture, since I needed such a long exposure.

Golden Gate Bridge The Golden Gate bridge, 1996. (48K jpg)

A photo op offered by the tour guide on the 3-hour bus tour of San Francisco. This was the first stop after stopping at the bridge itself and taking a walk partway across. The guide claimed he was the only one who stopped at that spot. I'm not so sure, but it makes a great picture.

This shot was taken with the zoom lens, from the deck of the ferry coming back from Alcatraz. I appear to have gotten dust in the film and scratched the negative, and haven't managed to clean the image up to my satisfaction.

Shortly afterwards, we discovered that the power had gone out over various parts of California. After getting back to the hotel (where we got the last room, with a stunning bay view of a fog bank), we spent some time laughing at the repetitive man-on-the-street interviews about the Great Power Outage of 1996.

Some more pictures (unsorted and untitiled).
